In the days before the wedding, the bride belongs entirely to her family. The Haldi comes first — turmeric, sandalwood and oil, pressed into her skin by every aunt and cousin, each touch a blessing for a glow that is half science, half love.

Then the Mehendi — the henna artist, the long afternoon, the songs, and somewhere hidden in the swirls on her hands, the groom's name. They say the darker the henna, the deeper the love. The whole house leans in to look.

These are loud, laughing, slightly messy mornings — the bride on her peedi, the chadar overhead, thaals of haldi passed hand to hand. They are the celebrations that feel the most like home.
