Turmeric paste mixed with besan, sandalwood, milk and rose water is applied to the bride by the people who love her, usually on the morning of the wedding or the day before. The mama and mami traditionally apply the first hand, then the mother, the father, the sisters and cousins. Turmeric cleanses, blesses and brightens the skin.
A haldi thaal with bowls for the paste, an oil bottle, a peedi with fatti for the bride to sit on, and an entry chadar.
The peedi is the low cushioned seat the bride sits on for her haldi and mehendi, and the fatti is the footrest that goes with it. Our peedi and fatti sets are made with matching chadars and thaals in yellow, pastel pink, rust orange, ivory and Zehra palettes.
