It is the ceremony that opens the season — the Sahe Chithi, the Shagun and everything after it follow from here. For families planning from abroad, the Roka is often built around a single trip home, which is why it helps to have the ceremony pieces ordered well before you fly.
A shagun thaal for the exchange, mithai and dry fruit boxes, shagun envelopes for the cash blessing. Most families also send a suit or saree cover and a tissue basket as part of the gifting.
